Expectation vs Reality {Sibling Edition}

Siblings live in perfect harmony together day and night, always putting each other first.

Not.

Siblings can be a real pain in the backside. So today I’m going to share with you the expectations and realities of life with a brother or sister.

Expectation

Brother: “Dear sister, I know how much you love Mum’s chocolate chip cookies, so I saved you the whole plate while you were away.”

Reality

Sister: Did you save any cookies for me?

Brother: *burps* No.


Expectation

Sister: *comes home from camp* I’m home!

Brother: *falls into sister’s arms* Oh Sister, how I missed you! Look! I made you a welcome home banner!

Reality:

Sister: *comes home from camp* I’m home!

Brother: Huh? Where’d you go?


Expectation:

*brother and sister at table doing school together*

*silence*

*silence*

*more silence*

Brother: Isn’t it nice to be doing our school with such concentration, Sister? At this rate, we’ll finish before lunch!

Reality:

*brother and sister at table doing school together*

Sister: *singing Sound of Music songs over and over again*

Sister: *still on first math question*

*still singing*

*still singing*

Brother: *nearly ripping out his hair* *also still on first math question* You’ve been singing those songs for FIVE HOURS! It’s ALMOST DINNER!!!!

Expectation:*

*I do not share a room with my brother πŸ˜›

Sister: I’m so glad we share a room, aren’t you, Brother? We can be together all the time!

Brother: Of course, Sister! Your half if so neat and tidy.

Sister: And yours is impeccable!

Brother and sister: Aaaah…

Reality:

Sister: I hate sharing a room with you! You’re a pig!

Brother: At least I shower more than you do. I shower once a month!

Brother and sister: AAAAAHHH!!!


Expectation:

Sister: Ugh I can’t do anything right!

Brother: It’s okay, Sister, you’ll get it!

Reality:

Sister: Ugh I can’t do anything right!

Brother: Hah! You got that right.


Expectation:

Brother: You’re awesome.

Sister: Why thank you! So are you.

Reality:

Brother: You’re awesome.

Sister: I know.


Expectation:

Brother: How about this movie?

Sister: Sure! Whatever you choose.

Brother: Okay!

Reality:

Sister: Ugh I can’t find a movie. You pick.

Brother: Okay. This one?

Sister: Neh… Wow you pick the worst ones.

Brother: Fine then. What about this?

Sister: *rolls eyes* You can’t pick right. I’ll do it.

*ten minutes later*

Sister: Ugh I can’t find anything. I’ll watch anything you choose.

Brother: *sigh* Okay; this one?

Sister: Eew! No!

  1. XD Zielle, me. every. single. time. ah. It’s not funny. πŸ˜› XD That movie one though! It’s gotten so hectic here we vote, and even then we never get to pick because someone’s always cheating the votes! *hums innocently*

    • XD Haha yes it is and you know it. XD XDXD
      IKR??!! It’s SO annoying. I say pick a movie, so he picks (or says ‘I don’t know’ which is super irritating), and I don’t like it. So he says, pick a movie, so I pick, and he doesn’t like it. It’s a never ending cycle of torment.

    Expectation: My dear brother and I have a movie night on Sunday nights and we watch all kinds of cinematic masterpieces.
    Reality: “doyouwannawatchboltorzootopia”
    Bolt and Zootopia are good movies but GOLLY we NEVER watch anything else lol
